Real estate postcards that put your name on every door

Real estate postcards work best when the same homes see your name again and again. Mail a just listed card around each new listing, a just sold card when it closes, and a farm card to the same routes every month. Every home on the routes gets one, from $0.44 a home with printing and postage included.

Just listed and just sold cards

A just listed postcard tells the neighbors a home is for sale. Some of them know a buyer. Some of them start wondering what their own home is worth. Either way, they now know your name.

A just sold postcard does the same job a month later, with proof. It shows the street, the result, and how to reach you. Neighbors who are thinking about selling keep that card.

Both are standard realtor postcards, and both work best on the routes right around the home.

Farm area mailing: same routes, every month

Farming means picking one neighborhood and mailing it on a steady schedule. The homes stay the same. Your name keeps showing up. When someone on those streets is ready to sell, you are the agent they already know.

One card does not build that. Twelve cards over a year can. Most agents pick a farm of 1,000 to 2,500 homes, so the monthly cost stays steady and they can mail it every month without a gap.

Mix the cards. Send a market update one month, a just sold the next, and a seasonal note after that.

Why EDDM instead of a bought list

  • No list to buy. EDDM goes to every home on a carrier route. You choose streets, not names.
  • No gaps. A bought list can miss homes or include old owners. A route covers every mailbox on it.
  • Lower postage. EDDM Retail postage is $0.260 a piece since July 12, 2026.
  • The trade off. You cannot pick one house over another on the same route. If you need only absentee owners or only one price range, a list is the better tool.

Picking routes around a listing

  1. Find the listing on the route planner map.
  2. Pick the route the home is on, then the routes that touch it.
  3. Keep similar homes. Skip routes that are mostly apartments or businesses. Residential only is on by default.
  4. Check the home count and the total. Retail EDDM takes 200 to 5,000 pieces per ZIP Code per day.

Timing

  • Just listed: mail within a week of the listing going live, so the card lands while the sign is new.
  • Just sold: mail about 30 days later, once the sale closes.
  • Farm cards: mail the same week each month.

Plan for the full timeline. Proof in 1 business day. Print and drop within 5 business days after you approve. USPS delivers in 7 to 10 business days.

Sizes and sample cost

EDDM pieces must be flats. A standard 4 x 6 postcard does not qualify. Common sizes are 6.25 x 9, 6.25 x 11, and 8.5 x 11.

MailingHomesPrice per homeSample total
One just listed drop, 6.25 x 91,000$0.44$440
Larger listing or farm drop, 6.25 x 92,500$0.44$1,100

Sample prices. $0.44 a home is $0.18 print plus $0.26 postage for a 6.25 x 9 card. Larger sizes cost more to print. Price your own mailing.

The Growth plan as a monthly farm plan

Growth is $99 a month plus homes. It keeps your farm routes saved, mails on the same schedule each month, and gives you a call tracking number and a monthly report. For a 1,000 home farm at the sample price, that is $99 plus $440, or $539 a month. You see the total before checkout. Compare plans.

Compliance notes for agents

  • Include your brokerage name and license information as required by your state.
  • Follow your brokerage's advertising rules and any MLS rules about sharing sale details.
  • Do not imply the card is sent or endorsed by USPS. The EDDM indicia only shows postage was paid.
  • Fair housing rules apply to mail like any other ad.

This is not legal advice. Check your state rules and your broker before you mail.
